How do I find one? My rheumatology team refuse to recommend, say they are not allowed to, but they say it's a good idea, as teeth/jaws are affected by RA.

Do you know one in London?
Or is there a way of finding one online? Many thanks, franky

Sorry Franky, I don't know how you can find one, but I hope you are successful!
Have you looked on NHS choices? I don't think it would say what each dentist specialises in but there may be a contact thing for you to ask the question.

Hi Franky,

Sorry can't help out. I see a Hungarian dentist who flies over every other weekend from Budapest to work in a dental practice in Ealing. He's certainly cutting edge and we have saved a small fortune seeing him for specialist dental work that would otherwise have cost an arm and a leg if we had seen a private UK dentist. Before I was diagnosed he picked-up that my gum's were receding and advised me to see my GP for blood tests as they frequently appeared inflamed during my visits.

I noticed in a post from the old forum site that you go to UCH, I go there too and will soon be under the Anti-TNF clinic, if you'd like to we could meet up for a coffee and a chat one day?

Love,

Barbara

Hi Merryberry

When I went to my dentist I was going on Infliximab and I asked over the phone when I booked the appointment if I could talk to him personally, he told me all about the drug on my visit, I think the only way is to ask them

Welli have promlems .
I have seen the same dentist for 28 years he is private now .

he does not know much about Slceroderma which causes a tight/ small mouth .But does see others with R.A and on drugs .He has a bit of knowagle about dry mouths and promlems

What i did was got him a booklet from the scleroderma people wrote for dentists .Its in my file Scleroderma is rare so i would not expect him too know much .

the other thing i found out was about the eastman hospital in London .Who will treat diffaclult cases say if my mouth got any smaller .
As for my jaw cracking i think i would discuss say if the jaw was painfull if he would have a longer app as the work would be slower .But of course i would have too pay .Then he is much cheaper then some and does say about the price .
I also go every 3 months its worth it .As i have acid promlems .He also will write out pripts for toothpaste

Hi Franky,

Sorry for the late reply, I lost my internet connection this weekend and believe there were also problems with the forum site, or was it just me?

Ouch sounds like you're having a miserable time with your teeth and have your hands full with the kids.

Hope that my dentist can help you out. I've never told him that I have RA and it was before I was diagnosed, that he noticed that something going on with my teeth that was out of the ordinary to suggest that I see my GP.

I'm up the road from you in Belsize Park and used to live in Talacre Rd NW5, and would love to meet up, tried e-mailing you but was unable to send it - must be doing something wrong? Was down your way today, with my hubby who has his workshop nearby too.
